Focus on Annie Duke

Annie Duke mightn’t have came away with her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most feared poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "young crowd" of poker run amok following a big success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her 4 kids. She hails from New Hampshire and was raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, have a look at her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, who taught her the best method to play the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has won her cut of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.

Winning over $3 million in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his techniques to become a force in poker.

You might encounter her at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on television and you might even compete with her in a web poker match, but do not bank on an easy win. Unless you’re a rising star, you will not beat her. However, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
