Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
