Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While participating in internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
