Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but favored poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible game, has expanded in acceptance so quickly.
Omaha hi/lo begins just like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues in which players can bet, check, or fold. Once all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. Unlike Hold’em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the best possible hand out of everyone’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It’s the identical notion in just about every poker game.
A low hand is more complicated, but really opens up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the high hand wins the whole pot.
